State of Florida Opens 24-hour Comfort Stations for Volusia County Residents

Volusia County residents impacted by Hurricane Milton can also apply for federal assistance, as FEMA has declared the county a disaster area. This declaration unlocks individual and public assistance, as well as hazard mitigation, to help in recovery. Residents can submit their applications online at www.disasterassistance.gov, through the FEMA mobile app, or by calling 800-621-3362.
Attention Residents with Storm Debris

If you have storm debris for pick-up, please do not place the debris in trash bags, yard waste bags, or bins. Please stack the debris next to the road.
North Road closed

Updated 10/15/2024: North Road has been temporarily patched. Please drive slowly and carefully over the damaged culvert area.
Please be aware that North Road is closed until further notice due to a collapsed culvert. This culvert has been scheduled for repair.

Transportation for Residents to DeLand High School Hurricane Shelter

For Pierson residents needing transportation to a hurricane shelter, Volusia County Schools has arranged for two buses to pick up at Pierson Town Center, 116 W. 1st Avenue, on Wednesday, October 9 at 9:00 AM. These buses will provide transportation from Pierson to the DeLand High School shelter.

State of Emergency Declared for Tropical Storm Helene

Volusia County and the State of Florida have declared a state of emergency in anticipation of Tropical Storm Helene. The Pierson Town Council will discuss this emergency declaration at its Council Meeting on Tuesday, September 24th at 6:30PM at Pierson Town Center.
At this time, please be aware that Volusia County schools will be canceling after-school activities on Wednesday, September 24, 2024. Schools will be closed on Thursday, September 25, 2024.
Public Meeting - FRDAP Grant Discussion

The Town of Pierson will hold a public meeting at the Town Center on Monday, September 16, 2024 at 4:30 PM to discuss the Town applying for a grant under the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program (FRDAP) during the 2025-2026 funding cycle. The applications are due September 30, 2024. The grant application includes improvements to Chipper Jones Park (Phase II). The public is invited to attend.
